A lot has change recently with my EK43 shot prep and things have improved substantially as a result. I’ve added RDT (Ross Droplet Technique) into the mix to reduce static, I’ve increased my tamp pressure and introduced some downwards taps to improve evenness of distribution. I decided to record a quick video as it’s probably easier to see it in action rather than describe.

  • Hi Spence,

michaelg from CFUK here. Just waiting on my own EK to arrive and watching your video for tips! Where did you get your little metal container for the beans and the little atomiser bottle from? Just wondering if there’s anything else I would need to be ready to ‘get the best’ out of the EK. What do you use for a hopper? An Aeropress funnel or something else?

Thanks in advance for your help!

    Michael

      Hi Michael,

The little metal containers can be found on eBay, I think mine came from China. People also use wine measures to reduce static and fling when thwacking as they fit around the chute nice and tight. I stoke the atomiser from my Mrs, no idea where it came from but I’m sure make-up places and the like would sell them, again eBay/Amazon will be your friend. I have the official MK short EK hopper and use that but single dose obviously. As for other tools I’m sure your mileage will vary. The EK relies on great distribution so any tools that can help with this are worth a look in my opinion. Happy to answer any specific queries if you have them and there should also be a couple of monster EK threads over at CFUK to read through which will give you some more insight into the learning curve etc…

      Cheers

      Spence
